PU postpones BS exams
Lahore, Dec 21: The Punjab University has notified that BS 4-years programme sixth semester examination 2013 is postponed till further orders. Students studying at government colleges affiliated with Punjab University (PU) appear in the exams.

PU results
Lahore: PU Examinations Department has announced the results of MA Diplomacy and Strategic Studies, Part-I annual examination 2013, MA International Relations, Part-I annual examination 2013, and MSc Gender Studies, Part-II annual examination 2013.

According to a press release issued on Thursday, the results of MSc Chemistry, Part-II annual examination 2013, MSc Physics, Part-II annual examination 2013, and Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) (Afternoon) semester system session 2009-2013 were also announced.

evaluation: A meeting of Punjab University Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran on Thursday.

According to a press release, the meeting approved 14 PhD evaluation reports, seven cases of extension and one miscellaneous case. Prof Dr Khawaja Harris Rashid, Prof Dr Muhammad Ehsan Malik, Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Prof Dr Tanveer Akhtar, Prof Dr M Iqbal Chawla, Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhter, Prof Dr Ismatullah Zahid, Prof Dr Shaukat Ali, Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Chairperson DPCC Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen and Registrar Prof Dr Khan Rass Masood attended.

Xmas Day ceremony at PU
Lahore: Punjab University Campus Corporation, Sanitation Wing, organised a ceremony in connection with "Christmas Day" on Thursday at the Faisal Auditorium.

According to a press release issued on Thursday, Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Minister for Minorities Affairs Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Religious Scholar Prof Dr Liaqat Qaiser, MPA Shahzad Munshi, MPA Merry Gill, Parliamentary Secretary Tariq Gill, Religious Scholar Rafique Danial Khokhar, Registrar Prof Dr Khan Rass Masood, Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences Prof Dr Ehsan Malik, Director IER Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhtar, Resident Officer-I Javed Sami, Resident Officer-II Malik Muhammad Zaheer, Sanitary Supervisor Ch Mushtaq Masih and a large number of Christian employees and their families attended the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Tahir Khalil Sindhu lauded the services of Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran and said the university was making rapid progress under his aegis. Congratulating Christian community on Christmas, he said the Punjab government was protecting the rights of minorities.

PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran said that we must forget our all differences for the prosperity of the country. He said that Punjab University was free from any discrimination. He congratulated Mushtaq Masih and others on organising a good ceremony. He also announced Rs 700 honorarium for each Christian employee of the university. Mushtaq Masih thanked PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for providing all facilities to Christian employees on the campus. At the end, Dr Liaqat Qaiser offered prayer for progress and integrity of the country.

UVAS convocation
Lahore: A MEETING of the subcommittees formed to review arrangements for the 5th convocation of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), scheduled to be held on December 30, was held on Friday.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the meeting which was informed that Chancellor/Punjab Governor Muhammad Sarwar would preside over the convocation.

Graduates of DVM, BS (Hons), DPharm, MBA, MSc, MPhil and PhD will receive degrees in the convocation.

UVAS Controller of Examinations Sajjad Haider said that so far 665 graduates had registered for the convocation. He said 33 position winning graduates would be awarded medals.

GCU students' distinction
Lahore: Six students of Government College University (GCU) Political Science Department, setting an unprecedented record, have won the USEFP's Global UGRAD Scholarship 2014.

GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman hosted a ceremony in honour of the scholarship recipients Hafiz Ullah Wazir, Hanif Ullah Sajid, Najeeb Khan Achakzai, Gauhar Rehman, Malik Khalil and Maleeha Kiyani.

Political Science Department Chairperson Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt said it was unprecedented for a department of any university that its six students won Global Undergraduate Scholarship of United States Educational Foundation. He said the scholarship had provided the students with an opportunity to enrich their education and experience by studying a full semester in a top university of the United States.

He said the scholarship covered full tuition fee, boarding and lodging, airfare, health cover and monthly maintenance allowance.

The GCU VC appreciated the hard work and efforts of the students which they put in winning the scholarships. He said the GCU every year hosted a number of training sessions and seminars to apprise its students about the foreign scholarships, and that was one of the reasons that highest number of foreign scholarships available for Pakistanis were won by Ravians.
