Matric results on July 25
Lahore, July 15: All the nine Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) will announce results of Secondary School (Matriculation) Annual Examination 2014 on July 25. This was decided in a meeting of the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) on Saturday. However, BISEs will announce the high achievers of the Matriculation 2014 Exams on July 24.
PU dept renamed
Lahore: The name of Punjab University Department of Library and Information Sciences has been changed and its new name is Department of Information Management.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Department of Information Management (DIM) Chairperson Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen said as information and knowledge was produced, recorded, preserved and used in the form of a physical book and the profession became known as librarianship.
She said: "Information was no more restricted by the physical book and the physical library while the user does not always need to physically move to the library to use his needed information. People can access full-text information located anywhere in the world on their palmtops and tablets. Information and knowledge recording journey has evolved from stone and clay tablets to electronic tablets and so do we had to, and we have as professionals".
Pharm-D exam forms submission
Lahore: Punjab University (PU) has issued the schedule for admission fee and forms for Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) Final Professional Annual Examination 2014. The last date for submission of admission forms for the said exam with single fee is September 8 while the forms can be submitted with double fee till September 12.
Lahore: Punjab University (PU) has awarded a PhD to a scholar in Communication Studies.
Ifra Mushtaq, d/o Mushtaq Ahmad, has been awarded a PhD after approval of her thesis entitled "The Role of TV News in Promoting Deliberative Democracy in Pakistan: Impact on Citizens' Quality of Opinion and Political Participation". Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS) Director Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar and PU Mass Communication Department former Chairman Prof Dr Shafique Jullandhry were her supervisors.
PU forms submission dates
Lahore: Punjab University has issued the schedule for admission fee and forms of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) First and Second Professional Annual Examinations 2014. The last date for submission of admission forms of Pharm-D First and Second Professional Annual Examinations 2014 with single fee is August 12 and August 18 while the forms can be submitted with double fee till August 15 and August 22 respectively.

Lahore: Punjab University Examinations Department has issued the schedule of admission fee & forms for Post Graduate Diploma in Institutional Management (Food-Services) annual examination 2014, the last date for submission of admission forms with single fee is 8-7-2014 while the forms can be submitted with double fee till 9-7-2014.
According to a press release here on Wednesday, the said exam will commence from 19 July 2014. Detailed schedule is also available at PU website www.pu.edu.pk.
PU prof awarded gold medal
Lahore: Tehreek-e-Istehkam-e-Pakistan Council has awarded Quaid-e-Azam Gold Medal to Punjab University Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAGS) Director and agriculturalist Prof Dr Saleem Haider.
According to a press release here on Wednesday, Dr Saleem has worked on various projects with national and international agriculturalists. Faculty members, students and employees have congratulated him.
Lahore: Punjab University (PU) awarded PhDs to three scholars on Thursday. According to a press release, Imrana Mushtaq, daughter of Syed Mushtaq Hussain, has been awarded a PhD in South Asian Studies, Naseem Bano, d/o Noor Muhammad, in Urdu and Hafiz M Ajmal, son of M Ashraf, in Islamic Studies.
PU approves 25 PhD synopses
Lahore: Punjab University's Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) meeting was held on Monday which approved 25 PhD synopses, 18 evaluation reports and 12 panels of examiners.
The meeting chaired by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran also approved seven extension cases and six miscellaneous cases. Prof Dr M Ehsan Malik, Prof Dr Muhammad Taqi Zahid Butt, Prof Dr Mubasher Ahmed Butt, Prof Dr M Zakria Zakar, Prof Dr Musarrat Abid, Prof Dr M Akhtar, Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhter, Prof Dr Shahid Kamal, Dr Ismatullah Zahid, Prof Tahira Basharat, Prof Amir Ijaz, Dr Abdul Ghaffar, Prof Dr Moeen ud Din Nizami, Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi, Dr Shazia Noureen Qureshi, Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Chairperson DPCC Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen, Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Amin Athar and Additional Registrar Dr Kamran Abid attended the meeting.
Five PhDs awarded
Lahore: Punjab University has awarded PhD degrees to five scholars in different subjects.
According to a press release, Qadeer Anjum d/o Muhammad Shafi Bajwa has been awarded a PhD degree in the subject of Urdu after the approval of her thesis titled "Muhammad Hasan Askri Ki Maibua Kutab (Hawashi O Taleeqat)", Syeda Bint E Zahira d/o Shah Hussain in the subject of Botany after the approval of her thesis titled "A Study on The Metal Uptake Potential of Selected Indigenous Filamentous Fungi From Industrial Waste Water Around Lahore", Faisal Kamal Haidri s/o Muhammad Shafique Haidri in the subject of Urdu after the approval of his thesis titled "Urdu Shairi Kay Angraizi Tarajim (1947 Kay Bad) Tehqiiqi-O-Tanqeedi Jaiza", Fakhar-ul-Zaman s/o Noor Zaman in the subject of Arabic after the approval of his thesis titled "Life and Work of Shaikh Ghulam Nabi-Lillahe with the Editing of His Manuscript" Iqtibas-Al-Anwar-Min-Ahadeeth-E-Sayyed-Al-Abraar" and Naveed Ahmad s/o Khushi Muhammad in the subject of Zoology after the approval of his thesis titled "Embryotoxic Effects of Hexavalant Chromium (Cr +6)" in Mammals".
registration: Punjab University (PU) has extended last date of registration for BA/BSc Annual Examination 2015 with single fee.
According to notification, students can now submit their registration forms with single fee till July 2, 2014 instead of June 30, 2014.
training: The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has made six training courses mandatory for its supervisors and trainees.
According to a press release issued on Saturday, Prof. Zafar Ullah Chaudhry, President CPSP, while addressing participants at the conclusion ceremony of a training course, said it would enhance the capability of supervisors to supervise trainees and will also improve the expertise of trainees.
The ATLS and BLS trained doctors are rendering services in a better way and the stature of the college has been elevated internationally and the demand of the FCPS degree is also increasing in the world. The structured training system of the CPSP nurtures capabilities of the young doctors. The news
