BIEK announces class-XI result
Karachi, Nov 18: Controller of Examinations Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) Imran Chishti on Tuesday announced the result of Higher Secondary Certificate Part-I (Class-XI) annual examination 2013, Humanities Group (regular). As per statistics, there were 10,153 registered candidates and out of them 9,724 appeared in the exam. About 3,699 candidates passed all six papers, 2,762 five papers, 1,527 four papers, 884 three papers, 493 two papers and 251 students just one paper. BIEK also announced the result for special candidates. There were 79 registered in total, whereas 70 appeared in the exam. MBBS suppl exams from 16th
Karachi: The University of Karachi on Tuesday announced the schedule for MBBS third professional supplementary examination-2013.
The examination would be conducted from Nov 16 to 23, it was stated.
All the papers would be held between 2pm and 5pm at the new classroom of the Faculty of Science, Karachi University. The KU also announced that the university and its affiliated colleges will observe holidays on Nov 14 and 15 in connection with Ashura-i-Muharram. app
KU sets up body to boost finances
Karachi: The University of Karachi (KU) has set up a committee in order to consider proposals for enhancing the institution's financial resources to help overcome its fiscal crisis.
A university official said on Saturday that the six-member committee would be headed by Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan. The members will be Prof Dr Majid Mumtaz, Dr Haris Shoaib, Asim Ali, Kishwar Khan and Engr Abdul Jabbar Memon.
The decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of the University's Syndicate chaired by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser.

MPhil English at BBSUL
Karachi: The Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University, Lyari (BBSUL), has announced commencement of MPhil English (evening) classes and MA (morning) from next year.
The BBSUL is the only university in Karachi that has offered MS/ MPhil English leading to PhD English.
The university registrar said the BBSUL got regular services of three foreign qualified PhD professors of English. ppi
SSUET extends date for submission of admission forms
Karachi: The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) on Tuesday announced an extension in the last date for submission of admission forms till November 18.
The university management claimed that the decision was taken upon the request of a large number of applying candidates. "We have offered candidates a few more days to send in their admission forms, as many had requested a chance to appear in the entry test for the graduate programme of 2014," said the SSUET management.
SALU PVC's appointment
Sukkur: Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and Faryal Talpur will decide who will be the Pro-Vice Chancellor (PVC) of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur.
Reports said PVC Prof Dr Abdullah Phulpoto completed his tenure on September 18, 2013. Senior PHD faculty members of SALU were visiting the CM House and Faryal Talpur's House for getting the post.
Sources said that the CM House, Khairpur, conveyed a message to former president Asif Ali Zardari that as SALU was situated in Khairpur district, so the PVC should be a candidate from there.
The Jilani House therefore proposed the names of Prof Dr Muhammad Yusuf Khushuk and Syed Noor Shah Bukhari, while Faryal Talpur recommended retired Prof Dr Maindad Zardari. SALU VC worried over new KU, SU campuses
Khairpur: Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) vice chancellor Prof Dr Parveen Shah has requested the chief minister to stop Karachi and Sindh universities from opening campuses in nearby districts.
According to a press release issued by university on Tuesday, the vice chancellor said that the Khairpur campus of SALU catered to the academic needs of upper Sindh.
She said that a letter was sent in August to the chief minister requesting that the Larkana Campus and Begum Nusrat Bhutto Campus Sukkur may be given under administrative control of SALU since they came under its jurisdiction. She said for the past 26 years, all degree colleges in Sukkur and Larkana regions had been affiliated with SALU.
SALU, Khairpur caters the academic needs of the upper Sindh region. It is worth noted that since last 26 years, all degree colleges of Government of Sindh in Sukkur & Larkana region are affiliated with SALU.
She said that even colleges in the Naushahro Feroze district were affiliated with SALU and were operating under its ambit. She said that if the planned campuses opened up in Naushahro Feroze then SALU would face administrative and financial hardships from losing affiliation and regular examination fees.
Prof Shah said that exam fees of regular and private students were the main sources of SALU's revenue and losing them could also affect the quality of education imparted by the university. Dawn
