Lahore, Sep 13: Punjab University (PU) Examination Department has issued a date-sheet for BA/BSc Supplementary Examination 2014.

PhD, MPhil entrance results
Lahore: Punjab University's Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) announced the results of PhD and MPhil entrance tests with 15 candidates successful in the PhD and 82 passed in the MPhil.
According to details, a total 49 candidates appeared in the PhD entrance test out of which 15 qualified the test, 673 candidates appeared in the MPhil test and out of them 82 were declared successful. In MPhil (Research Track), 34 candidates qualified the test out of 298, while in MPhil (Professional Track) 48 qualified out of 375 entrants.
The successful candidates have been advised to come for interviews of PhD, MPhil (Research Track) and MPhil (Professional Track) on September 15, 16 and 17 respectively. The interviews will begin at 10:00am. The candidates are advised to come on time with their role number slips, NIC and original academic certificates.
The test for the PhD Communication Studies was held on August 27 and the test for the MPhil programme on August 28 at the ICS. As many as 49 candidates appeared in the PhD programme test, while 673 candidates appeared in the MPhil test.
PU test: For the first time in the history of Punjab University's Law College, the college administration on Monday held an entrance test for PhD in Law and Human Rights.
According to a press release, 79 candidates appeared in the test and appreciated the college administration for starting the PhD programme.
The teachers from other departments of PU performed duty of invigilation to ensure transparency.
Workshop: A weeklong workshop on Designing Interactive Learning Applications concluded at the Department of Training at Information Technology University on Monday (ITU).
According to a press release, ITU Vice Chancellor Dr Umar Saif was the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Saif said such workshops and trainings were not only helpful in professional learning and advancement in the respective fields, but they could also create instant self-employment opportunities for the skilled.

GCU students bag 11 top positions in Inter exam
Lahore: Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Thursday announced the toppers of Intermediate Annual Examination 2014, according to which, Ahmed Rehman of Government College University (GCU) bagged the overall first position.
Ahmed Rehman, Roll No 513811, secured 1043 marks out of total 1100 marks. The announcement of the high achievers was made by the BISE Lahore Chairman Dr Muhammad Nasrullah Virk at a press conference. The result, however, will be declared today (Friday).
The overall second position was shared by Muhammad Subhan Saeed, Roll No 513324, of the GCU and Ifrah Siddiqui, Roll No 521702, of a private college, as both of them secured 1037 marks while Saifa Khalid, Roll No 521580 of the same college clinched overall third position with 1036 marks.
In Pre-Medical Group (Among Boys), the first two positions were bagged by Ahmed Rehman and Muhammad Subhan while Muhammad Awais Qarni of the GCU clinched the third position in this group with 1032 marks.
In Pre-Medical Group (Among Girls), Ambar Akbar of a private college bagged first position with 1027 marks, Sana Shahid of Government Kinnaird College for Women second with 1025 marks while Noor-ul-Ain of a private college third with 1024 marks.
Among Boys in the Pre-Engineering Group, Arslan Tariq of the GCU and Saweel Hameed of a private college shared the first position with 1033 marks each, Mohammad Jawad Haider of the GCU second with 1029 marks and Tahir Mahmood of the same institute third with 1026 marks.
Among girls in Pre-Engineering Group, Ifrah Siddiqui stood first, Saifa Khalid second while the third position was bagged by Sana Younas of the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) with 1035 marks.
In General Science Group (Among Boys), the first position was bagged by Shamsail Ramzan of the GCU with 973 marks, Hamza Mazhar of the same institute second with 972 marks while Muhammad Saadat Atta of a private college third with 956 marks.
In this group among girls, Kainat Saeed of a private college clinched first position with 972 marks, Mehak Seedat of a private college second with 965 marks and Iqra Naseem of a private college third with 958 marks. Among Boys in Commerce Group, all the three positions were bagged by the students of a private college. Zaeem-ur-Rehman bagged first position with 1008 marks, Muhammad Tauseef second with 969 marks and Hammad Shafique third with 968 marks. Among girls in Commerce Group, Aqsa Israr of a private college secured first position with 1008 marks, Rimsha Waseem of the same institute second with 987 marks and Tayyaba Noor, a private student, third with 984 marks.
In Humanities Group (Among Boys), Allah Wasaya bagged first position with 954 marks, Saeed Ahmad of Govt Higher Secondary School, Kasur second with 934 marks and Muhammad Ali Zafar of the GCU third with 929 marks. In Humanities Group (Among Girls), the first position was bagged by Tayyaba Naqeeb of Kasur with 994 marks, Amna Aamer of a private girls higher secondary school, Lahore second with 978 marks and Momina Anwar of Govt Kinnaird College for Women third with 964 marks.
Meanwhile in a press release, the GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleequr Rahman has congratulated Ravians on securing as many as 11 positions, including the overall two positions in the BISE Lahore Intermediate Examinations 2014, saying that students' achievements brought glory to their alma mater.
The Vice Chancellor attributed the tremendous achievement of the GCU students to their hard work and talent through which they had managed to uphold the GCU's tradition of excellence.
49pc pass PU BCom exam
Lahore: PU has declared the result of Bachelor of Commerce (B Com) Part-II annual examinations 2014.
According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, 42,367 candidates appeared in B Com Part-II and pass percentage is 49.64. 25,294 boys appeared and 17,073 girls appeared while 10,812 boys and 10,220 girls passed the examination. Boys pass percentage is 42.75 while girls pass percentage is 59.86. Detailed results are also available at PU website www.pu.edu.pk.
meeting: A meeting of Punjab University Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran on Wednesday which approved four PhD synopses, seven evaluation reports, seven panels of examiners, 10 extension cases and four miscellaneous cases, according to a press release issued here.
