OET requirement for USMLE exam
Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) has made it mandatory for all applying candidates, regardless of native language, language of instruction at medical school, or US citizenship, to pass Occupational English Test (OET) medicine exam. It is to determine that the candidate meets the minimum English language reading and writing skills required to practice medicine in the U.S healthcare system.
Step 2 CS (Clinical Skills) exam has long been replaced with OET medicine test, which is more than an English proficiency test, it assesses physician’s vocabulary, emphasizing on the type of language a doctor should use while communicating in a clinical setting with patients and peers.
OET test result is normally announced within about 14 working days after you sit for the test. This result will remain valid for two years.
Beside passing OET exam, a well designed USMLE Preparation course will help you pass these steps within available time frame.
