USMLE steps passing score, regional accreditation changes
What is change made in Step 1 minimum passing score
As a result of thorough review, the Step 1 Committee decided to remove the three-digit score recommended to pass Step 1 to pass/fail status.
Change in Step 2 CK passing standard
USMLE Management Committee has increased the passing score with five points, from 209 to 214. These changes are made to ensure to meet the knowledge and skills expectations required for effective medical practice and patient care.
Step 3 passing score change
The passing score for Step 3 has been changed from 198 to 200.
Accreditation by a National or Regional Agency
To be able to apply for US residency program, your medical school must be recognized by country’s national or regional accrediting agency, which additionally must be recognized by World Federation of Medical Education ( WFME).
