What is USMLE Exam?
USMLE is the United States Medical Licensing Examination. USMLE assesses a physician's ability to apply knowledge, concepts, and principles that are important in health and disease and that constitute the basis of safe and effective patient care. Broken up into three parts, these three Steps have different USMLE test formats, having different passing score, and complement each other but no Step stands alone in the assessment of readiness for medical licensure. All three are needed to be passed to be a licensed US physician.
USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 can be taken in testing centers around the world by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) as part of their certification program. Step 3 tests are given only in the United States and it's territories.
