DHA exam requirements for Physicians and Dentists
Requirements for General Practitioner (GP):
To apply as General Practitioner (GP) for DHA exam, one should have graduated from a recognized medical school listed on Avicenna database (formerly WHO directory of medical school). Medical graduates must have registration and practice license from their home country.
International candidates (non UAE) must have atleast 2 years clinical experience after housejob / internship which should be done in general practice setup.
Requirements for Specialist and Consultant:
To apply as specialist or consultant for DHA exam, one should have graduated from a recognized medical school listed on Avicenna database (formerly WHO directory of medical school). Candidate should have completed post-graduation certificate as per recognized specialty certificates. Diplomas are not included.
Candidate must have registration and valid practice license from his/her home country or country of last employment and should have no interruption in clinical practice for more than 2 years. Based upon clinical experience, candidate is allocated to different tiers.
Requirements for General Dentist:
To apply as General Dentist for DHA exam, one should have successfully completed 5 year’s dental degree (i.e. BDS, DDS, DMD or its equivalent) from a recognized dental school listed on Avicenna database (formerly WHO directory of medical and dental school). Dental graduates must have registration and practice license from their home country.
International candidates (non UAE) must have atleast 2 years clinical experience after housejob / internship. Dentist with no housejob / internship evidence will need an additional two years of clinical experience.
Requirements for Specialist and Consultant:
To apply as specialist or consultant for DHA exam, one should have primary dental degree from a recognized dental school listed on Avicenna database (formerly WHO directory of medical and dental school). Candidate should have completed post-graduation certificate comprising of minimum 2 (two) years duration as per recognized specialty certificates. But for some specialties, requirements may vary. Like, for Oral and Maxillofacial surgery specialty, minimum of 4 (four) years post graduate certificate is required. Similarly, for Orthodontics specialty, minimum 3 year’s postgraduate certificate is required.
Candidate must have registration and valid practice license from his/her home country or country of last employment and should have no interruption in clinical practice for more than 2 years. Based upon clinical experience, candidate is allocated to different tiers.
