Can I take part 2 of PLAB before appearing for part 1?
NO. Candidates may not enter PLAB Part 2 until they have passed Part 1 and must take Part 2 within three years of having passed PLAB Part 1.
Re-sitting the PLAB test Part 1
You can have four attempts, plus a fifth final attempt on the basis of an application to the GMC, providing a sufficient proof for additional learning for over a 12 months period. For any of the attempt you must fulfill the eligibility requirements to be able to apply for the exam.
Part 2:
If a candidate fails PLAB 2, he/she can re-sit for exam for upto four times, and all these four attempts must be made within two years of passing part 1 exam. Similar to PLAB 1 fifth attempt, a request must be made to GMC proving that atleast 12 month’s additional learning has taken place.
Is passing the PLAB test guarantees the job offer in the United Kingdom?
NO. Finding a job always remained a difficult part for Indian, Pakistani and other Asian doctors and recent UK immigration legislation for doctors has made the situation worse than ever.
But once you have passed PLAB 2 exam then one should submit online application for GMC registration. Normally this process may take about 6to 7working days after submitting application with required documents. After registration, you should consider creating your NHS profile, so that you can find a suitable job in NHS system.
How can I best prepare for the PLAB test?
The examination is testing your ability to apply knowledge to the care of patients rather than how well you can remember and recite facts.
All the questions relate to current best practice, and you should answer them in relation to published evidence and not according to your local arrangements.Names of drugs are those contained in the most recent edition of the British National Formulary (BNF).
Remember that you are being tested at the level of a doctor who has qualified and completed one year of clinical practice.
